Pharmacological Action:
Streptomycin sulfate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. Streptomycin has a strong antibacterial effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and its minimum inhibitory concentration is generally 0.5mg/ml. Most non-tuberculous mycobacteria are resistant to this product. Streptomycin is also effective against many Gram-negative bacilli such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, Enterobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, Brucella, Pasteurella, etc. It has antibacterial effect; Neisseria meningitidis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae are also sensitive to this product. Streptomycin has a poor effect on Staphylococcus and other gram-positive cocci. Each group of streptococcus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and anaerobic bacteria are resistant to this product.
The antibacterial active ingredient of procaine penicillin is penicillin. Penicillin has good antibacterial activity against Streptococcus hemolyticus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Staphylococcus that does not produce penicillinase. Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Corynebacterium diphtheria, Bacillus anthracis, Actinomyces bovis, Streptobacter candida, Listeria, Leptospira and Treponema pallidum are sensitive to this product. This product also has antibacterial activity against Haemophilus influenzae and Bordetella pertussis. This product has a good antibacterial effect on anaerobic bacteria such as Clostridium, Peptostreptococcus and Bacteroides melanogaster, but has a poor antibacterial effect on Bacteroides fragilis. Penicillin plays a bactericidal effect by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls.
